GCSE Results 2026
We would like to congratulate the Year 11 of 2025/2026 on an outstanding set of examination results. This year group were unable to sit national assessments in Year 6 due to the COVID pandemic and so there are no value added or progress measures possible.
44% of all the grades awarded to Balcarras pupils were grade 7+ with 42% of our pupils achieving 5 or more 7s or higher.
80% of the pupils in the year group achieved a grade 5 or higher in both English and maths. This equals the schools highest ever result.
92% of pupils achieved a grade 4 or higher in both English and maths. This is a record for the school.
We wish our outgoing Year 11 the best of luck in the future.

A level results 2026
The publication of A-Level results on Thursday 13th August saw our Balcarras Year 13 cohort achieve very impressive and well-deserved results, which enabled the vast majority to secure their preferred post-18 pathways. The cohort performed admirably, and they should feel incredibly proud of the results they attained: 67% A*-B, 89% A*-C and 100% A*-E. Forty students achieved straight A*-A grades – an incredible achievement on their part!
There was a fantastic, celebratory atmosphere at school as students arrived to collect their results, with a huge proportion of students being accepted onto their first-choice courses at universities, including some who will be continuing their studies at Oxbridge colleges, such as Margaret, Anna, Owen and Tom who will be studying English Literature, Medicine, Modern Foreign Languages and Engineering respectively. Many more students in the cohort have secured courses at a wide range of Russell Group universities. A significant number of students have also secured some very exciting apprenticeships and degree apprenticeship courses with Ontic and Mercedes Benz. Similarly, a contingent will also be embarking on exciting gap year travels in the coming weeks and months to destinations far and wide.
Over the past two years our students have demonstrated fantastic resilience, resolve and academic ability, and we are delighted that this has enabled the vast majority to move forward successfully towards their next steps in life. We hope that they are as proud of themselves as we are of them.
These fantastic achievements are a great measure of the consistency and quality of teaching and learning in the Sixth Form at Balcarras, and also testament to the hard work invested by students and staff alike throughout what has been an industrious years for all in the Sixth form community. Regardless of the future destinations of our departing Year 13 students, we wish all of them the very best in the future.
