Pupils win Robot Perfomance award

Lets go to Lego prize, Year 7 to 9 win Gloucester league robotics event

On Wednesday 18th March, a group of 10 students from Years 7 to 9 attended the First Lego League Regional event held in Gloucester. The event was hosted by Safran Landing Systems and brought together schools from across the region to take part in a series of STEM-focused challenges.

Throughout the day, students competed in four main areas. The first was the Robotics Challenge Mat, where teams programmed and operated their robots to complete a range of tasks. Our team performed exceptionally well in this category and were awarded the Robot Performance Award, recognising their accuracy, teamwork, and technical skill.

The second element was the Innovation Challenge presentation. Students explored archaeology-related problems and proposed creative, practical solutions, demonstrating strong research, presentation, and problem-solving skills.

The third activity involved a Robot Design question-and-answer session, where students explained their design process and the thinking behind their robot’s construction and programming. This gave them an opportunity to showcase their understanding of engineering concepts and teamwork.

Finally, the team took part in the Robot Challenge Knockout rounds, competing head-to-head against other schools. They progressed impressively through the rounds and finished as finalists.

Overall, the trip was a great success. All students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and gained valuable insight into STEM topics, teamwork, and competitive problem-solving. It was a rewarding and inspiring day for everyone involved.
